Microsoft replaces Calibri with the new Aptos font in PowerPoint

Goodbye Calibri, say hello to Aptos!

In the world of design and presentations, fonts play a major role — they convey messages, set the tone and leave a lasting impression. For years, Microsoft's Calibri was the default across the Office suite, including PowerPoint. Now the tech giant has made a significant announcement: Calibri is out and Aptos is in as the new PowerPoint default.

Aptos is a sans-serif typeface just like Calibri, but with a bit more swagger. Why the change? Microsoft knows that in the design game you have to keep things fresh — and this move makes sense. Calibri has felt overused lately and reading a deck set in it often hints at laziness. It will be interesting to see how Aptos is received.

We had a quick play with it, and from first glance Aptos feels much more dynamic than the previous default. We'll miss you, Calibri — but we welcome Aptos with open arms!
